Special Session on Social Networks

As part of The International Symposium on Methodologies for Intelligent Systems (ISMIS 2011) http://ismis2011.ii.pw.edu.pl/

June 28 to June 30, 2011
Warsaw, Poland

Submission Deadline: February 15, 2011

Scope and Objectives

The social networks special session focuses on linking social networks, as well as the related topics, to intelligent systems. Theoretical advances, algorithms and systems, as well as application cases are welcome contributions. Social networks are the focus of most of the work being done around the social Web. Apart from social networks, the social dimension may be found in other forms and other locations on the Web: social media such as YouTube and Flickr, social news like Digg or Twitter, or social bookmarking as Delicious. All these locations may contain precious information useful for building powerful and intelligent systems through, e.g., offering new value added services exploiting that knowledge, which otherwise is very poorly exploited by users and service providers today.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Social networks analysis
  • Dynamics of social networks
  • Social information retrieval
  • Knowledge discovery from large social networks
  • Social networks for intelligent systems
  • Semantic Web and social networks
  • Semantic aspects in social networks
  • Visual analysis of large social networks
  • Privacy and security in social networks
  • Recommendation in social networks
  • Business modelling in social networks
  • Use-cases and applications of social networks analysis
